Surprise! My Last Year of Homeschooling 2.0

Ella is coming home to finish high school in 2022-2023.  She was a rising Junior at Seton School, so she'll have to push a little to finish but she's all on board.  There's no motivation like knowing bigger, better things are coming to get a teen to buckle down and finish.

I was the HTH Ministry Leader from 2013-2015 and then I coordinated the ministry's upper level 6th -12th grade classes from 2015-2020.   I used to be astounded that any "respectable" homeschooling parent didn't have a solid plan in place for a high school student by the end of July, before the start of the new academic year.   Sit in quiet judgment of others, pray the Litany of Humility here and there and the Holy Spirit WILL provide opportunities to pull you off a self-righteous pedestal.  Ahem.

I'm grateful for all those leadership years because when I reached out to leaders of other local Catholic co-ops, they were not only familiar with me but immediately helpful in getting my plan sorted out.  Thank you, Jesus, for Catholic fraternity and homeschool networks of support!

I've always been an HTH girl - I've been an eclectic homeschooler so never needed to plug into a Catholic homeschool hybrid program.  Both Aquinas Learning and Warrenton Schoolhouse have some HS level a la carte courses now, which are going to make this last minute plan a reality.  My gratitude is deep to Helen Fullinwider/Jackie Pearce of HTH, Rosario Reilly of Aquinas Learning and Carrie Schiano of Warrenton Schoolhouse.

Ella will be registered with Kolbe Academy and will be receiving an accredited diploma from the school. Here's her academic line up for 2022-2023:

Kolbe Academy (Self-Paced + courses)

Theology:  Apologetics/Church History II  and Morality/Church History III (2)

English:  Modern Literature and Creative Writing (2)

Social Studies:  American Government (1/2)

History:  History of Christendom III (1)

Holy Trinity Homeschoolers (Live)

Elective:  Speech and Debate (1/2)

History:  History of Christendom (audit - it dovetails with both Kolbe religion and history courses)

Warrenton School House (Live)

Chemistry + lab (1)

Personal Finance (1/2)

Aquinas Learning (Live)

Algebra II (1)

Total: 9 credits

She will graduate from Kolbe with the Recommended Track + the JPII Award for achievement in foreign languages (Latin I - IV and French I and II).

I am looking forward to seeing her gain more autonomy, independence and confidence this coming year!

My Final Year Homeschooling - Year 10!

I no longer have little kids.  My sweet Grace is a rising 6th grader, Middle School!   I'm so grateful I had my children with me during their early years.  I was so nervous that I'd be a disaster as a homeschooling mom when I started but looking back so many precious memories are there.  Kids don't need perfect parents, they need attentive and loving parents.  The old adage, "the days are long but the years are short" has settled into my heart these past few weeks.   This will be my 10th year homeschooling and my last, as my children attend an independent private Catholic school from 7th - 12th grade.
